TESTIMONIAL FOR ZHINENG QIGONG
After retiring from University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 1995, I continued working on contract with Akademi Tentera Malaysia (ATMA) for about nine years. Before completely retiring from academic life, I wanted to get involved in activities that would keep me active.
In early 2003, I read about the Zhineng Qigong in the TTDI Residents’ Association Newsletter. A new class was about to start then. My wife and I decided to enroll in the class and since then we have been very regular in our attendance as we enjoy the sessions tremendously. Enrolling for the Zhineng Qigong is the best decision we had made.
The instructors or laoshi(s), under the leadership of Laoshi Patricia Wong, are some of the most dedicated and helpful people I have come across in my life. They are not in it for financial gains but as a service to the community. They are also good examples of the code of conduct as written by the founder of Zhineng Qigong, Grandmaster Prof Pang Ming in his book “Introduction to qigong”
I like the way every session ends with the words “Zhou Fu Ren Lei” which means "doing service to people". I am also picking up many Mandarin words because the classes are conducted both in English and Mandarin.
Qigong is very good for everybody more so for the retired people. Apart from giving us the opportunity to circulate with others, qigong is very good for health. At present we are already practicing modules one and two. The qigong movements are slow and precise. We are practically exercising every part of the body.
In the book Chinese Qigong Therapy (1985) the authors described qigong in the following words “Qigong is an art (a skill) of strengthening health practiced in China. It plays an active role in preventing and treating diseases, protecting and strengthening health, resisting premature senility (decrepitude) and prolonging life.”
Join the class if you want to know how this description of qigong is put into practice.
We have found it to be very effective and are complaining less about our health problems.
