External Relations Sub Committee Report

This sub committee serves as an initial contact point for other resident associations, companies and non-governmental organisations as well as participating in some of their activities.

We were involved in the issue of hawkers around the Uptown area, played a major role in rallying support on the issue of protesting toll for the privatised highways as well as the various campaigns on the preservation of green lungs in Bukit Kiara, Kota Damansara and Bukit Gasing.

In the case of "Save Bukit Kiara Green Lung" campaign, we are working closely with Mr. Liew Khooi Ching (our former Chairman but now Chairman of "Friends of Bukit Kiara") together with our Dato' Dr. Tan Kee Kwong in gazetting the parkland for its preservation and use of present and future generations to come. The Sungai Buloh Forest Reserve in Kota Damansara is another case where we actively support the resident association of Kota Damansara and "Friends of Kota Damansara" in their fight to maintain the park for the use of the people.

The Taman Tun Residents' Association also hold joint activities with the Lions Club for the Muhibbah Festival as well as with Maxis and Astro for the Mountain Bike Carnival. The initial contact is through the External Relations Sub Committee, which subsequently lead to the RA participating in the organisation of these activities which are centred on good family lifestyle and health for not only the residents of Taman Tun but also many from the neighbouring areas.

Close liaision between the network of resident associations and NGO's leads to better understanding and rapport between the various communities, as well as providing a means for all to work togther for the betterment of one and all.

TTDI SECURITY PATROLLING SCHEME

Our security patrolling scheme was launched in November 2006 and to date the registered members of the Scheme number have surpassed the 1,000 mark. NEW RECYCLING SCHEME

Time: Every 3rd Sunday, 2 - 5 pm.
Place: Service Road between Mobil & Esso, Jln Burhanuddin Helmi

The TTDI RA has just finalised arrangements with Alam Flora to start a recycling programme in Taman Tun. This will be held every third Sunday of the month and interested residents with items for recycling can bring them to the service road between Mobil & Esso, off Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi. Alam Flora will pay for the items sent for recycling. For the full list of
