Proposed
SECURITY GUARD ARRANGEMENT IN TTDI
Taman Tun had long been a peaceful and well organised residential area and perceived by many in the Klang Valley to be a choice area to live in. However it is obvious from recent crime statistics that the security situation is deteriorating and the RA has often received numerous complaints on the occurrence of thefts within TTDI. Cases reported include house break-in, car thefts, snatch thefts and thefts of smart-cards from cars parked in front of owners' homes at night.
After a detailed study on the possible measures to overcome these breaches in security in Taman Tun, it would appear that the indications are that the residents themselves would have to take some initiative and pool resources with the local Police in arresting and controlling this disturbing security trend in TTDI.
A number of nearby housing areas already have in place a private security patrolling service. Some residents felt that our crime rate is on the increase because the perpetractors of crime are moving to greener areas where the pickings is easier and with less risk.
In the last Annual General Meeting held last April 2006, the options of re-introducing the Rukun Tetangga system or a paid security guard patrol system were debated hotly. And the general consensus is that the RA should go forward towards the implementation of a private security patrolling scheme in Taman Tun.
The Security Sub Committee has been working hard on this private security scheme and a security firm has been selected based on an open tender system and is now ready for award.

DETAILS OF THE SCHEME
The security firm that had been selected by open tender is Sri Lara Joint Security Services Sdn Bhd. which also go by the name of Homeguards. Among the many security firms considered by the Security Sub Committee, this firm appears to have among their clients the most number of housing schemes. The rest appear to be mainly involved with condo security.
Their scope of service will comprise mainly patrolling services of the various zones demarcated in Taman Tun. In addition to this patrolling, they will provide a 24-hour Call Centre from their headquarters.
The implementation of such a private security patrol scheme will involve a monthly payment and a minimum number of residents within a particular zone, will be required to initiate such a scheme. For more details, see Table 1.

As the number of particpating households increase, the level of patrolling service will be increased with more guards and to cover the whole 24-hour period. The rates will remain at RM40.00 per household even after the level of participation exceeds 400 but the service will be enhanced further to include a canine patrol unit or maybe even the establishment of a local base secretariat to better coordinate the security services.
The TTDI RA will sign a general agreement with successful security firm empowering them to perform the service as well as spelling out the detailed scope of duties and responsibilities. However, each individual household will need to sign a separate agreement with the security firm confirming the payment of monthly charges, etc.
Once the general agreement is signed, Homeguards will be provided with an introduction letter to meet residents and sign them up for the security scheme. Taman Tun is not a small scheme and there is a lot of houses to cover. So it will be greatly appreciated that residents who see the need for this security scheme, please complete and return the form below to us so as to speed up the regisration process and implement the patrolling as soon as possible. Or you can email your response to us at:
publicationssc@ttdi-ra.com.my
Because no firm has infinite resources, Homeguards will start off in the three zones of Datuk Sulaiman, Hj Openg and Rahim Kajai/Aminuddin Baki areas first. Residents in the other zones of Zaaba, Athinahapan and Burhanuddin can also send in their response. in fact, if it turns out that responses from the later three zones are much better, we might even consider changing the order of implementation.
