Our Security Scheme Surpass 1000 Milestone

The New Year brings forth new hopes for our Security Patrolling Scheme as the latest report show that our subscribing members have surpassed the 1,000 mark, in fact the total membership is now within striking distance of 1,200. This is a significant milestone for the scheme and if there are any residents who in the past had doubts of the scheme, they should sign up immediately and join the rest of the residents in making TTDI a better place to live in.

Now there are three zones undergoing 24-hour patrolling. In addition to the Aminuddin Baki/Rahim Kajai and Athinahapan Zones, Zaaba has also joined the 24-hour action when the number of subscribing members passed the 200-mark.

Now we are anxiously waiting for the remaing three zones to catch up.

Dateline: 27 October 2007

SECURITY BASES FOR PATROLLING SCHEME

In early November 2007, two units of container type security bases were delivered and installed in Taman Tun to facilitate the security patrolling scheme. One unit was laid in Medan Athinahapan while the other in Jalan Aminuddin Baki, these two zones being the ones that had realised 24-hour patrolling.

As of end of October 2007, Zone Athinahapan and Zone Rahim Kajai/Aminuddin Baki lead the other zones in terms of members with more than 230 registered members in each zone. Closely following behind is Zone Zaaba which had just passed the 200 mark. The other three zones are lagging a bit behind and more is being put to bring up the membership in these three zones.

These two bases will facilitate the work of the HOMEGUARDS security personnel in their work. They will have a better secured place for their equipment and also a proper shelter from the elements, especially when it rains.

The cost of these two security bases are jointly shared by the TTDI Residents' Association and the Sri Lara security company.

Launch of Vehicular Patrol in TTDI

Date: Saturday 29 Sept 2007
Time: 3:00pm
Venue: TTDI Pusat Komuniti, Jln Athinahapan

In response to the overwhelming support from the residents to the Security Patrolling Scheme, and in their endeavour to further enhance their service to TTDI, Sri Lara HOMEGUARDS has placed a Landrover DISCOVERY patrol vehicle for use in TTDI. The vehicle will come in handy for patrolling during rainy days, improve response time generally and also enable emergency evacuation to Hospitals, Clinics if need to. The vehicle will be equipped with First Aid kit.

The official launch of this vehicular patrolling service was recently launched by the Chairman of TTDI RA, Tuan Hj Abdul Latif Mohd Som in a simple ceremony at the Pusat Komuniti TTDI. On hand to witness this historic occasion were members of the EXCO and senior officers from Sri Lara HOMEGUARDS team.

Interview with TTDI POLICE Chief

Recently the Editorial Board met up with local TTDI Police Chief, Inspector Guna in between his busy schedules and sought his views on the recently launched private security patrolling scheme in TTDI. Below is a summary of the issues discussed.

Q: Have you been fully briefed by the Residents' Association as well as Homeguards on the set-up and organisation of the security scheme recently launched in Taman Tun?

A : Yes, and I am aware that Taman Tun Has been divided into six zones for effective security patrolling since November last year and I have the full list of the guards patrolling Taman Tun and they constantly liaise with my men and provide feedback.

Q: There are residents who feel that if the Police are doing their work properly, there should not be a need for the private security patrolling scheme. Your response please?

A: Its a matter of what level of service do you expect. As it is, Taman Tun has one of the lowest crime rate in Brickfields District and even KL. But if you are one the victims of the few rare cases, you'll still be unhappy. So the Police encourage residents to be proactive and take additional measures to safeguard their own properties.

Q: With the security scheme in place, the Police will have an easier time?

A: On the contrary, my boys are now working 12-hour shifts carrying out operations almost daily like road blocks. And we have 2 patrol cars from Brickfields HQ doing 24-hour patrolling in TTDI. And we have installed 2 CCTV cameras in TTDI. One is at the junct-ion in front of CIMB bank in Jln Burhanuddin Helmi and the other in front of KFC in the Tun Mohd Fuad area. These cameras are being centrally monitored by the Brickfields office.

Q: Is there any noticeable difference in the security situation since November?

A: Definitely there is a substantial drop in the crime rate compared with the same period in previous years. There are less cases of housebreaking, car thefts and robberies. The guards are doing a good job.

Q: Is there any specific advice you can give to the residents to further enhance the security situation?

A: Its a very effective deterent to keep the light at the porch and back door on at night. And always remember to lock your cars and secure the house locks before going to bed. And if you are away for an extended period of time, let the Police or Homeguards know so that they can keep an eye on the house for you.

Q: Lastly, is there any last words you wish to say to TTDI residents?

A: More residents are encouraged to sign up as members of the security scheme because once 24-hour patrolling starts, the full benefits of the scheme will be felt.

NIGHT PATROLLING FOR ALL SIX ZONES
LASTEST ZONE IS BURHANUDDIN HELMI

Yes, all six zones in TTDI are now being patrolled at night by the HOMEGUARDS Team! Zone Burhanuddin Helmi joined the patrolling scheme in mid-January 2007, while the smallest zone Hj Openg is being covered by the Datuk Sulaiman security team. So all in all, there are a total of 10 security guards patrolling the streets of TTDI at night from 11:00pm to 7:00am each day.

Work on registering more members for the security scheme continues and at the last count some 650 members had signed up. It is hoped that all those residents who are yet to register will sign up immediately. If for whatever resons, you do have the regristration form, please call anytime the number below for the necessary forms:

Dateline: 02 Jan 2007

NIGHT PATROLLING ALREADY FOR 4 ZONES
NEW ZONES ARE ATHINAHAPAN & ZAABA

The New Year 2007 saw another zone being added to the list undergoing night patrolling by the Homeguards team. This is the Athinahapan Zone. Earlier, in mid-December 2006, night patrolling had also started in Athinahapan Zone. So now four (4) of the six (6) zones in Taman Tun are under night patrolling, while part of the Hj Openg Zone is being covered by the team from Datuk Sulaiman Zone.

Meanwhile registration of members in Burhanuddin Zone has commenced and it is hoped that the triggering number of 100 members will be reached soon for night patrolling to start.

But the aim and objective of the TTDI Residents' Association is to have 24-hour patrolling for all the zones in order to reap the full benefits of the security measures put in place. And the triggering number for 24-hour patrolling is 300 members in each particular zone. But we are on track towards reaching this target, as to date the total registered for all six zones had already reached 550 members after just two months. Keep it up!

NIGHT PATROLLING STARTED FOR 2ND ZONE
ZONE RAHIM KAJAI / AMINUDDIN BAKI

The overwhelming response from the residents to the security scheme continues. Hot on the heels of the Datuk Sulaiman Zone, the triggering number in the Rahim Kajai / Aminuddin Baki Zone had been reached and the single shift night patrolling from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am had started. We encourage more residents to sign up for the scheme so that all of us will have the benefit of 24-hour security service at an early date.

Dateline: 24 Nov 2006

NIGHT PATROLLING BEGINS
IN ZONE DATUK SULAIMAN

Since the registration drive began in early November, the response from the residents had been tremendous. And it had been confirmed by the HOMEGUARDS Security Firm that the night shift patrolling had started in Zone Datuk Sulaiman because the number of registered participating residents had exceeded the triggering number of 100. Registered households are distinguished by the HOMEGUARD tag at their gate. Collection of the monthly charge of RM40 will start from next month, December 2006, for Zone Datuk Sulaiman.

The registration of residents in Zone Hj Abang Openg meanwhile had also started last week and the numbers are increasing steadily. Hopefully, the required numbers will be reached very soon and patrolling too can commence.

Registration forms had been distributed to Zone Aminuddin Baki/Rahim Kajai since early last week and the HOMEGUARD team is expected to make their rounds during the weekend of 25th and 26th Nov to sign up and collect the registration forms.

Together, we can make this scheme a success!
